Collaborative Human Resources at NextDeveloper

"Finding the balance.”

For a team that deals with codes and software, it’s important not to forget just how human the act of cooperating to achieve an end-goal is. There is no “I” in TEAM, yet for successful team-work every single individual needs to be on the same page and comfortable with the process. Managing a team requires a lot, we do have a set of rules that come from years of experience.

Description

1. We have regular 1:1s and team meetings to ensure that all members can express their needs, questions and concerns. They are also necessary so that we know the entire team has an understanding of customer needs/requirements at all times.

  • With software projects, it’s important to schedule just enough meetings so that the team can clearly communicate, while not investing too much of your precious time which could be put into the developing work. We know it’s crucial to find a balance to ensure high quality but affordable software.

2. It can be a little tricky to work around schedules from all around the world. Overlapping time zone hours and good planning is our best friend as a team of remote workers.

3. As stated, our team of engineers are from all around the world. Therefore micromanaging is not a good idea, if even possible. We have a motivated, capable and reliable team of people we trust, which means the right information, tools and training are enough for us to kickstart.

  • The way to achieve motivation is usually through the shared passion all developers share to solve a problem. That’s not to say we don’t have clear project guidelines, documentation, etc. This is also important because this is a creative process, you can’t measure the work of a developer with how many lines of code they have written.

4. This location-situation puts more emphasis on collaboration tools. Our team is already well in tune with each other and comfortable with the ways we use to communicate, share files and send requests. This is crucial for a fast-paced development process.

5. There is always room to improve. Our clear communication policy applies to the feedback at the end of the development life cycle. Usually clear, precise and detailed feedback works best with our team. We take the feedback process very seriously so that our work can get better with each cycle. This is a time where we come together, collect feedback and maintain strong relationships.

The main software human resources attributes we strive to deliver are;

  • Unique (Testing & Selecting) Assesment Techniques

  • One on one assessments with engineers

  • Easy & fast to find engineers

  • With Code Quality techniques, can work with huge variety of applicants
